I come from a large, first-generation Mexican American family in New Mexico.
Growing up with all of the challenges associated with poverty, ethnicity, and
bilingualism, I became aware at an early age of the inequalities of our social
system. I believe that we must work together, pooling all of our resources,
talents and abilities, to overcome these obstacles, so that each of us,
regardless of background or ethnic status, can truly attain our full potential.
If we are to become self-actualized individuals, we must first address the
basic physical, emotional, and mental needs of the community, which so often
go unrecognized and unmet. Over the last six years, I have worked with a
small, dedicated team to develop a network of health-related and educational
services and programs, which are designed to fill these needs. These
services are inter-related in the sense that each one is a necessary building
block in the process of helping people become healthy, empowered,
self-confident members of society, who are able to become all that they are
meant to be.
The groundwork has already been done. The next step is a Call to Action to
All people for the wide dissemination of these ideas and services, which can
and do so much for so many.
